From the best Indian food outside of Melbourne, wine made from the region’s oldest vines and authentic wood fired pizza, here are the best places to eat and drink in the Goulburn Valley.

Where Melbourne's food icons like to eat

Set the GPS and head to the Goulburn Valley for some of the best Indian food outside of Melbourne, wine made from the region’s oldest vines and wood fired pizza that’ll make you feel right at home, according to Eighteen Sixty wine bar head chef Adele Aitken.

BANK STREET PIZZA

I always feel welcomed like an old friend at Bank Street, and the setting, the casual shared style of dining, and the food overall create such an amazing social atmosphere.

TAHBILK WINERY

Stunningly beautiful surrounds filled with native flora and fauna, made even better by consistently good food and amazing wine from some of the oldest vines in the area.

254 Oneils Rd, Tahbilk

HARVEST HOME

The gardens are incredibly gorgeous, and the renovation the owners have done is gorgeous and sympathetic to the old building. Plus I always get recommended a fun, new wine or cocktail.

BABA’S KITCHEN

The best Indian food outside of Melbourne, hands down. It’s not fancy, but it’s not supposed to be. It’s genuine and real, and they have the best onion bhajis I’ve ever had in my life.

32 Station St, Seymour

BOX GROVE VINEYARD

Apart from the gorgeous views and seriously good wines, the owner Sarah is one of the nicest people you’re ever likely to meet. Go for a tasting and a cheese board — so simple and so good.

MUSE AT MITCHELTON WINERY

The place to go (well, apart from Eighteen Sixty of course!) when you need to treat yourself. The food is paired back with a focus on local produce and sustainability, and the setting is polished. Any building bearing the name of Robin Boyd is sure to please.
