If luxing out at the tennis is on the agenda (and in your budget), do it with deliciously good taste at these six stylish courtside venues.
Piper-Heidsieck’s Champagne bar
The elite French fizz house is returning to the AO at two sites. Get your bubbly fix at the champagne bar outside Rod Laver Arena. Sweet and savoury crepes, quiches and salads will fill the gaps between glasses – or bottles – of Piper’s finest pours. On weekends, Madeleine de Proust will serve champagne-spiked madeleines. Or grab “on-the-go” refreshments at Piper-Heidsieck’s champagne kiosk, at Garden Square. Then freshen up inside the Piper-Heidsieck dressing room at the champagne bar.
Red Hill’s Tedesca Osteria at the Glasshouse
Chef Brigitte Hafner will give visitors a taste of her renowned Mornington Peninsula farm-to-table restaurant at The Glasshouse in the final week of the AO. Expect a three-course menu and premium wine pairing.
Suite life
Morena, Victoria, and Farmer’s Daughters chef Alejandro Saravia is feeding the corporates with a grazing-style menu inspired by his city restaurants – and they’re teamed with premium beverages. Posh CBD bar Nick and Nora’s is another sweet option, pairing signature cocktails with canapes and shared platters.
Emirates
The Middle Eastern airline continues to fly high inside its stylish, airconditioned suite, “visiting” five European destinations – including London, Dublin, Rome, Athens and Paris – from breakfast through to dinner. Think French cheeses such as bruléed brie and twirls of Tete de Moine, Greek mezze and sweets, and Italian fresh cannoli and pasta orecchiette tumbled in a parmesan wheel.
NN Club 1905
Sydney star chef Martin Benn and Vicki Wild make their AO debut inside the members’ only Club 1905 lounge. Guests are treated to a three-course feed teamed with luxe drinks inside an outdoor bar and lounge overlooking Garden Square before being whisked to some of the best seats in the house at Rod Laver Arena.
M & M’s Australia’s first-ever store
Confectionary giant M & M’s has debuted its first-ever Australian store. Load up on merch, snap a selfie with your fave characters or score a taste of two new AO shades – pink and light blue. Open until January 26.
