Shoppers have voted and its been decided the eight items that Aldi fans simply can’t live without, after more than 300,000 had their say.

Aldi’s People’s Picks for 2024 had some items make an appearance once again but there were some brand new products to grace the list.

The winners revealed that shoppers are looking for convenience, high quality and low cost items with two new categories — Best Newcomer and Certified Gold — making its debut.

Each category had 10 items that Australian Aldi shoppers could vote on.

The Best Newcomer award was given to Blackstone Gourmet Snack Co. Black Edition Deli Style Potato Chips Truffle & Olive Oil, which retails for $3.49. Aldi’s shopping expert, Kylie Warnke, said the chips were the perfect “boujee snack on a budget”.

Meanwhile, Di-San Pre Wash Stain Remover 750ml that retails for $2.09 took out the Certified Gold category.

Three items that appeared on the list in 2023 and 2024 were Snackers Market Colby Cheese & Crackers four-pack that costs $3.99, which won Lunchbox Legend, and the one kilogram Di-San Laundry Soaker, which costs $3.49, won the Partner In Grime category.

Another item that took out a spot in the top eight for the second year in a row was Seasons Pride Potati Gratin, which comes in a four-pack for $4.99.

“Another serial winner, the Seasons Pride Potato Gratin is holding onto its gold medal for another year,” Ms Warnke said.

“As the ultimate Time –Lord option, the gratin is the best way to spruce up a lazy dinner, and considering a four pack is only $4.99, its value stretches longer than the time it takes to cook.”

The BBQ Boss category was taken out by Marinated Lamb Leg Steaks with Rosemary and Mint, which retails for $35.99 per kilogram.

The Aussie Made Fave category was taken out by the $12.99 per kilogram Broad Oak Farms RSPCA Approved Chicken Thigh Bulk.

And, finally, the $8.99 Urban Eats Greek Spinach & Cheese Spanakopita won the socialite dish.

The ready-meal was labelled the supermarket’s “best keep secret” in 2020, with Sydney foodie @mernasfoodfomo shared why she loves the Aldi buy, adding that she will “usually hoard boxes” of the product.

Merna said the spanakopita from Aldi’s freezer aisle was “so easy” to make into a delicious meal as all you needed to do was pop it into the oven at 180 degrees and cook for 40 minutes.

“Honestly this is Aldi’s best kept secret, I usually hoard boxes of this,” she said, before sharing the “most satisfying shots” of the cooked product.

“It’s beautiful, buttery and crunchy on the outside and then you’ve got this gorgeous spinach and ricotta mix on the inside,” Merna said.

“It’s so fun to eat. Anyway, you’ll thank me, trust me, yum.”

Ms Warnke said Aldi shoppers never had to pick between cost and convenience.

“It’s always exciting to see what products get the tick of approval from our shoppers year after year, and which ones win favour to jump onto the podium for the first time. Whether they are an old favourite or a newcomer, ALDI shoppers know they are guaranteed to find high-quality, family-favourite items at amazing prices on the winners list,” she said about the Aldi’s People’s Picks 2024 list.

“This year, we’ve had some returning favourites come out on top once again, like the Seasons Pride Potato Gratin and the Di-San Laundry Soaker. Meanwhile some debut items took the stand like the Blackstone Gourmet Snack Co. Black Edition Deli Style Potato Chips Truffle & Olive Oil and the Ready, Set … Cook! Marinated Lamb Steaks.”
