Staring at a screen might be hurting your eyes and impacting your sleep. but did you know it might actually be ageing you too?

According to a study released by Unilever Skincare Research earlier this year, four days in front of your computer is equivalent to 20 minutes in the mid-afternoon sun.

Say what?

Yep, your computer screen might actually be giving you wrinkles.

Coming from the high energy visible light (or blue light) emitted from screens, the study found that this light can penetrate your skin into a deeper level than UV rays, causing symptoms like pigmentation, age spots and fine lines.

So what can be done about it? Obviously, preventing the damage in the first place is the best call to action, and a great, lightweight sunscreen should be worn all day, every day — no excuses.

Of course, you could also try wearing a hat and sunglasses inside, but we’re not sure how well that would go down in the office.

Not convinced? Might be time for a change of career.
