THE WOODHOUSE

There’s a menu here bursting with incredible wagyu and grass-fed beef. They cook amazing steaks served with delicious sides. I particularly enjoy the hand-cut chips and battered onion rings. The kids’ menu has ample choices, too.

101 Williamson St

EX LION TAMER

I love a good coffee and the Ex Lion Tamer never disappoint. You’ll find my family and I here most Sundays around 11am for coffee and the Rushmore Breakfast Bun, which is filled with streaky bacon, American cheese, mayo, sunny side-up egg in a brioche bun.

141 Mollison St

BALGOWNIE ESTATE WINERY

This is one of Bendigo’s gems, just 10 minutes out of town. The best spot to sit is the alfresco dining space overlooking vines. With a delicious seasonal menu, we love nothing more than having a few wines and grazing on dishes to share.

46 Hermitage Rd, Maiden Gully

BENDIGO WHOLEFOODS AND KITCHEN

This place is a greengrocer, delicatessen, garden nursery, providore and has a cafe. It stocks a huge range of international ingredients. I love going in and wondering through the aisles.

314 Lyttleton Terrace

CLOGS

This is the first of the Van Haandel family restaurants established 43 years ago and still owned by one of the sons. The pizza is still the same amazing pizza from years ago. Great local wines on the menu, too.

106 Pall Mall

WINE BANK ON VIEW

With some 1000 wines in store from the region and internationally, I love going to the Wine Bank to try new reds and whites by the glass while nibbling on a cheese platter. A must visit for out-of-towners.

45 View St

MEATS ON MITCHELL

Our local butcher sources the best quality meat from around the district — lamb, chicken, beef and pork. Josh and his team will source what I need seasonally and prepare to my requirements and recipes.
