Aussie woman's genius $2 shower hack to soothe colds this winter

Apparently, the cheap chemist find turns your shower into a "DIY sauna" and helps unblock a stuffy nose. 🤧

Like the next person, I have a blocked nose, a sore throat and a pounding headache right now.

It is winter, so it’s only fitting that I’d come down with a cold some time or another.

My go-to treatment basically involves going through a pack of Codral’s like they’re lollies (don’t do this) and waiting for the darn thing to be over.

Oh, and lots of lying around the house being waited on by my boyfriend because *cough* I’m deathly ill.

While the latter definitely helps, at least for boosting morale, I don’t really do anything else to actually help me feel better.

That was until I came across a TikTok hack that promised to help unblock my stuffy nose while also giving me some much-needed self-care.

It’s called the ‘Vapo Shower’ and it sounds bloody delightful.

Basically, it’s a scented tablet that dissolves with the steam of your shower, leaving you in your very own DIY sauna full of essential oils and other good stuff that’ll help soothe your noggin and schnoz.

Oh, and it costs just $2.40,  which is about $124567 cheaper than a single visit to your local sauna!

"I NEED IT, I WANT IT"

Her video quickly went viral, racking up over 3.9 million views, 171k likes and 640 comments.

“I've been dropping eucalyptus oil and it's a slippery situation 😅” someone replied.

Another said: “They have them at Woolies!” while someone else said, “I got mine from Priceline pharmacy.”

“I NEED IT, I WANT IT,” remarked another keen fan.

“I need this right now,” said a different user.

Shower steamers are having a moment right now

These tablets are actually called ‘Shower steamers’ and they’re nothing new. But it seems like the Vicks’ one is having a real moment on social media this winter.

They’re basically like bath bombs, for your shower (because why should bath owners have all the fun?!)

Once they come into contact with hot water, they begin to fizz and dissolve, releasing the oils inside.

Vicks' website states that the soothing scent is created with a blend of eucalyptus, essential oils, menthol, and camphor.

They also dissolve easily so there’s no cleanup - just keep the shower running until it’s fully dissolved.

And even if you’re lucky enough not to be sick, you can still use these bad boys to give your showers a spa-like touch any day of the week!
