In December he was intercepted on Ballarat Rd, Footscray, driving a Nissan Pathfinder without an interlock fitted.
The concerned father said his usual car had broken down and was at the mechanic and he desperately needed to get his sick son to hospital.
“My son has an auto-immune disease and he has regular hospital visits and I had no other way to get him there,” Mr Dawar told the Werribee Magistrates’ Court.
“There was a life-threatening risk to my son if he didn’t make his appointment.”
Mr Dawar provided letters from the hospital to the court showing his child received regular treatment there.
Mr Dawar was put on a six-month good behaviour bond and fined $200 without conviction.
