Drizzled in a traditional gravy sauce, you’re going to want to keep going back for more.

Every Sunday from midday there’s a delicious, hearty roast on offer at Sarah Sands Hotel, complete with all the trimmings.

The Brunswick pub plates up a classic roast for patrons in need of a comforting winter meal every weekend, complete with a bottomless wine add on for those feeling festive.

There’s weekly rotating protein served with hearty seasonal sides, so you can enjoy time and time again to try all the delicious roast variations.

There’s even vegetarian options available and a cheap kid-sized portion for the little ones to enjoy.

Aside from a classic roast there’s plenty of other hearty pub feed options on the menu, including a steak and ale pie, chicken parma or a juicy Porterhouse steak.

A proper plate load of fresh vegetables and mouth-watering gravy compliments perfectly the very generous serving of smoking hot roast chicken.

The Yarraville-Footscray Bowling Club is a community institution for many reasons but as frequent visitors to the bistro know, their roasts and parmas are some of the best on offer in Melbourne’s west.

A high-quality gravy seems harder to get nowadays but the gravy at this bowls club cannot be overstated, a generous portion makes sure every bite is packed full of flavour.

We’d recommend having a smaller lunch if you’re heading down for dinner.

Bendigo District RSL

It’s getting harder to find a roast on the menu in regional restaurants and bistros, which may mean the Sunday favourite is falling out of fashion.

If so, it would be a great a shame, because the roast used to be a reliable and great value fallback option for diners who couldn’t decide what to order.

However, you can still rely on the local RSL to provide a regular roast.

A hearty chicken roast was on the menu on Thursday night.

It was a tasty option, if not a budget friendly at $24.90.

It’s cheaper if you have a seniors card though and carries the option of adding some budget friendly extras like dessert or entree for an extra $4.50.

The restaurant is the brainchild of Emma D’Alessandro, Kevin Cerquiglini, and Adrien Gomes, all former staff members of Melbourne institution Donovans restaurant in St Kilda.

Guests can enjoy a changing menu of different roast offerings throughout the year, including smoked free-range chicken or roasted lamb rump served with a range of sides including roasted sweet potatoes and Yorkshire puddings before finishing with something yummy for dessert, including upside down pineapple cake or warm apple and chestnut cake.
