Three teenage girls have been charged over alleged burglary and car theft in Manor Lakes.

Police allege the girls, one aged 14 and two aged 15, stole car keys from a locker at a Ballan Rd gym about 8.30am on April 7.

They were confronted by a passer-by in the gym’s carpark while allegedly trying to steal a car.

One of the teens allegedly sped off in the vehicle while the other two fled on foot.

Police found the stolen car on Brightvale Blvd shortly after and arrested the three girls.

They have all been charged with burglary and theft.

The 14-year-old was bailed and the two 15-year-olds were remanded. They will all face children’s court at a later date.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.

It follows a similar incident last month when nine youths — including two 12-year-old boys — were arrested and charged over a spate of burglaries and thefts at gyms across Wyndham.

It is alleged the group pilfered keys from gym locker rooms and used them to steal vehicles from the carpark on at least five separate occasions since the start of the.

The alleged incidents took place at gyms on Tom Roberts Pde, Point Cook, Synnot St in Tarneit, Point Cook Rd, Point Cook, Ballan Rd, Manor Lakes, and Overton Rd in Williams Landing between January 25 and March 23.
