A Mercedes driver allegedly waved a gun at pedestrians crossing the street before he was arrested in a dramatic raid in Melbourne’s west.
A 23-year-old Werribee man has been charged with firearm offences and false imprisonment following an incident on Main St, Point Cook about 9pm Monday.
Police say the driver stopped suddenly at a pedestrian crossing and allegedly waved a gun at two men and a woman as they crossed.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers were urging the pedestrians to come forward.
On Tuesday, the Werribee man was arrested at a property on King Edward Av, Albion during a “dramatic raid”, according to locals.
Witnesses say undercover police as well as heavily-armed officers in large vans attended the otherwise quiet area before an arrest was made.
About 7 vehicle and 10 officers are understood to have attended the address.
One witness said it looked like a “movie scene” when the SWAT team arrived.
The Werribee man was remanded to appear at the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on April 12.
