A Sunshine businessman pulled up to his girlfriend’s house on Valentine’s Day, flowers in hand, then embarked on a romantic date of shooting up ice.
His girlfriend then took his wallet, keys and car before driving off into the night.
On his quest to find her, he landed in court and then in jail.
Kosta Manataris, 44, appeared before the Sunshine Magistrates Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to speeding and drug driving charges.
When he realised his girlfriend had left, Manataris grabbed keys to a white Ford van and rushed off to find her.
Police spotted Manataris, who was swerving between vehicles and driving erratically, along the Calder Freeway.
He was going at speeds of more than 150km/h, in a 100km/h zone.
Officers were unable to intercept him at that time but began to follow the van.
Manataris continued speeding when he turned onto the Western Ring Rd, reaching speeds of 140km/h.
His erratic driving continued with the van rapidly changing lanes with little space between other cars.
Police finally pulled him over on an exit ramp.
Manataris was sweating profusely and clearly drug affected.
He was also found to have meth in his system when drug tested.
Magistrate Carolyn Howe said Manataris had an “appalling” driving history and described this incident as “amazingly dangerous.”
“You were playing Russian roulette with everybody’s lives.”
Ms Howe sentenced him to thirty days in custody and a 12 month community corrections order.
His license was cancelled and disqualified for three and a half years.
