Search for resident, pet after house fire on Hunter St, Melton West

Firefighters are searching for a pet dog after a blaze at a Melton South property on Monday morning, with a person treated for smoke inhalation.

A family dog remains missing after a shouse fire in Melbourne’s west on Monday morning.

Emergency services were called to Hunter St, Melton West at 10.35am after reports of a house fire.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find the brick home fully alight.

They searched the home for a resident and a pet who were unaccounted for.

The resident managed to escape the blaze but the pet has not been located.

The dog’s owners posted about their missing rottweiler, Hera.

“Please help if you see this,” the post read.

Paramedics treated one patient for possible smoke inhalation at the scene.

The fire was not under control as of 11.20am.

A community warning was issued for smoke in the area.
