Police search for four offenders armed with machete after two people confronted in Lake St, Caroline Springs supermarket

One male was arrested and four remain at large after a group allegedly armed with machetes confronted two people inside a Caroline Springs supermarket and demanded their phones before one was attacked.

A group of machete-wielding men allegedly attacked a person and stole their clothes outside a supermarket in Melbourne’s west as police remain on the hunt for four offenders.

Police are investigating an alleged assault at Caroline Springs on Sunday about 9.30pm after a group of five approached two strangers inside a supermarket and demanded their phones.

The group escorted the pair from the Lake St store before allegedly assaulting one of them and stealing a jacket, bag and shoes.

The group, allegedly armed with edged weapons, then fled the scene.

With help from Air Wing, officers located one alleged offender a short time later before he was taken into custody and assisted police.

The investigation and search for four more alleged offenders is ongoing.
