A group of protesters have caused havoc for moning commuters on a busy road in Melbourne’s west.
Police were called to Shepherds Bridge on Footscray Rd in Footscray about 8am after reports of a climate change protest.
A police spokeswoman said about 10 people were present and a woman had been arrested.
“We arrested a 20-year-old woman following a protest on Shepherds Bridge on Footscray Rd on Wednesday,” she said.
“She is assisting police with their inquiries and is expected to be charged with public nuisance offences.”
Footscray police station Senior Sergeant told the Herald sun the climate change protests went on for 45 minutes, disrupting traffic.
A VicRoads spokeswoman said there were significant delays through Footscray until 9.10am when the road was reopened.
