Police discover huge drug haul along with weapons after man’s arrest at shopping centre

Police stumbled across huge amounts of drugs and weapons after arresting a man in a shopping centre in Melbourne’s southwest for being a public nuisance.

A seemingly standard arrest of a man causing trouble at a shopping centre, lead to the discovery of drugs, cash and weapons.

Police were called to the Heaths Rd Shopping Centre, Pacific Werribee, in Werribee about 3.30pm on Wednesday, to reports of a man behaving erratically.

When police arrived they found the 38-year-old Avondale Heights man and arrested him.

Officers searched the man and found $3000 cash and car keys to a Mercedes which was found in the shopping centre carpark.

Police searched the car and allegedly found commercial quantities of heroin and meth.

They also allegedly found smaller amounts of ecstasy and cannabis.

More than $30,000 cash was found in total along with a sword and a taser.

The 38-year-old was charged with a string of offences including trafficking a commercial quantity of heroin and methamphetamine, possess prohibited weapons and possess proceeds of crime.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
