A man has died after neighbours dragged him from a house fire in Melbourne’s west.
The man was pulled from a home on Ambon Dr in Deer Park after the blaze broke out about 12.30pm on Thursday.
Neighbours attempted CPR but he died at the scene.
A second occupant was also home at the time and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police and family members were at the scene on Thursday night as investigations into the blaze continued.
One neighbour who did not wish to be named said that he was alerted to the fire by one of his neighbours who asked him for help to save the occupant from the fire.
“My neighbour knocked on my door and asked for help to carry him out, but when I arrived he was already lying at the front door.”
It is understood that the occupants were a man and who lived with his adult son who managed to escape the fire.
Police and fire investigators left the property about 5.30pm.
