Police hope an image of a notebook may help them identify a mystery woman who was left critically injured after being hit by a car in Truganina.

The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a white sedan while crossing Leakes Rd about 4.35am November 29.

The female driver was not injured, stopped at the scene and is helping police with their inquiries.

The injured woman remains in hospital and is yet to be identified at this stage.

She is described as African in appearance with a small build, about 166cm tall with a scar on her forehead and burn scars on her right leg.

She was wearing a black puffer jacket, pink platform sneakers and dark-coloured pants.

Investigators have released an image of a notebook belonging to the woman in the hope someone may recognise it.

Police believe a number of cars drove past the scene at the time and are keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage.
