Police have released details surrounding a man’s death after a body was found at the scene of a fire under a Newport overpass.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner after a man’s body was discovered at the scene of a fire under an overpass in Melbourne’s west.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Blackshaw Rd about 7.15am after triple-0 callers reported a fire in the area.
Behind a concrete barrier, the body of a man was discovered.
More than 20 police officers were at the scene, door knocking nearby houses and forensically examining the location.
It’s understood police believe the man was a local to the area, who was reported missing.
A Victoria Police spokesman told Leader investigators had determined the fatal fire was not suspicions after examinations at the scene.
A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said she was shocked to hear of the death, adding the area was known for being “quiet”.
“I’m just shocked, that’s so awful,” she said.
“My partner called me this morning after he left for work saying something was going on. It’s a creepy area under there, I walked through once and now try to avoid it.”
