Just hours after a destructive house fire with multiple patients overnight, fire crews responded to a building fire at another western suburbs factory.
Emergency services responded to a serious house fire at Prairie Pl, Truganina about 10.30pm before they were called to a building fire on Orange St, Williamstown North just after midnight.
About 75 firefighters were required across the two incidents with multiple patients, including one man taken to hospital with burns.
Neighbours feared the worst when they called triple-0 at the Truganina house fire as they believed children were inside.
The single-storey brick home was fully ablaze and threatened to spread to nearby homes on three sides.
It took crews 30 minutes to bring the fire under control before they entered and confirmed no one was home.
All four occupants had evacuated but several of them needed treatment by paramedics.
One man was hospitalised with airway burns and burns to his arms, while two women were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
Early reports indicate the fire started in a workshop at the address before a male occupant alerted the rest of the house.
Fire crews then responded to the Williamstown North incident were they were met by the owner of a double storey factory just after midnight.
Additional resources were needed due to the size of the fire and issues finding an adequate water supply.
Firefighters were able to quickly quell the flames to prevent it spreading to neighbouring buildings, it was declared under control after 30 minutes.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined but police are not treating the incident as suspicious at this stage.
