A man has been accused of stealing parcels worth $10,000 during a series of burglaries from two post offices in Melbourne’s west.

A Werribee man has been arrested after almost $10,000 worth of parcels were stolen from post offices in Melbourne’s west over the past three months, with the contents then allegedly sold overseas.

Six other people have also been arrested for unrelated matters as part of the police’s investigation into the burglaries.

Police executed four warrants across the western suburbs on Monday, after two post offices in Werribee and Point Cook were allegedly broken into five times between September and October this year.

A 30-year-old man was arrested during a search of his Werribee property and has been charged with five counts of burglary and possessing a drug of dependence.

The Werribee man was remanded to appear before Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on December 7.

Police executed a further three warrants in Werribee and Hoppers Crossing as part of the investigation and arrested six people for unrelated matters.

Four of those arrested, aged between 28 and 55, were remanded for being wanted on warrants for various offences including burglary.

A fifth man was released pending summons for firearm and drug-related offending, while another man was cautioned for cannabis possession.
