A 17-year-old boy has been charged over an alleged midnight assault at a Keilor Park fast-food restaurant.
The boy is accused of striking a 49-year-old man on the patio outside the restaurant on July 8, leaving him with a broken cheekbone.
A police spokeswoman said the man lost consciousness as a result of the strike, and required reconstructive surgery for a shattered cheek.
“Two men who were exiting the restaurant walked past the man before one of them returned to the victim,” she said.
“The unknown man, without provocation, then struck the victim to the face.”
She urged anyone who witnessed the incident or could identify the man to contact Crime Stoppers.
