How fried chicken craving cost Hoppers Crossing learner driver $2000

A Hoppers Crossing learner driver was chasing a fried chicken craving but has instead “taken away” an expensive lesson.

Learner driver allegedly crashes into three cars and flees

Searching for some take out to fill a fried chicken craving, a learner driver in Melbourne’s west had instead “taken away” an expensive lesson.

The 20-year-old Hoppers Crossing woman was picked up by police after auto number plate recognition revealed her car’s registration had been cancelled.

When stopped in Werribee on Friday, February 11, officers also discovered she was driving alone and without displaying L-plates.

Police say the woman was given a “costly take-away” from the encounter, receiving penalty notices for driving an unregistered vehicle, driving unaccompanied and failing to display plates.

The chicken craving will end up costing the driver $2000 and the loss of the vehicle’s plates.
