Fashion Fridays will make its grand return to Melbourne’s club scene after a lengthy hiatus

A popular Melbourne club will make its grand return to the city’s nightlife after more than three years away. Find out when and where.

A former giant of Melbourne’s nightclub scene will make its highly anticipated return this month, with more than 1500 people expected for its “colossal” rebirth.

Fashion Fridays will reopen its doors to partygoers on Friday, April 14 and reprise its position as a weekly fixture on the city’s clubbing landscape after a hiatus of more than three years.

The club will run out CQ on Queen St, having previously called La Di Da (King St) and Fashion Lounge (Flinders Lane) home.

Fashion Friday co-owner Jeremy Boudoloh said he hoped to see the club become “the place to be on a Friday night again”.

“It’s an iconic brand and definitely generated a cult following...I’m the perfect example of that.” he said.

“We want to try bring that scene back to life where Fashion was where everyone wanted to be on a Friday night.

“I want to bring that experience that I had when I discovered it because, I feel like there have been a lot of younger people who’ve missed out on that”.

At its peak the club was attracting crowds of about 1000-1500 people every Friday, with its closing party in July 2019 bringing in more than 1700 partygoers, many of whom lined up until 3am to get in.

Since then the club has only held various reunion nights, with next Friay’s launch kicking off a new era for the club according to fellow co-owner Borce Kajmakoski, who has been involved in running the club since 2010.

“We’re aiming for that longevity...we want to get that momentum going forward,” he said.

“We don’t just want it to be one big opening and that’s it.

“It will be a similar feel to how it was back then but in a bigger space, a renovated and new CQ which is a great venue”.

After the club’s closure in 2019, Mr Kajmakoski said the CQ venue was one of the only places he would consider relaunching at.

The club will have two main rooms featuring RnB and house as well as a big outdoor smokers area.

Fashion Friday’s promotional material will also reach new heights this time around, with word of its reopening set to be plastered across 14 billboards across the city over the next four weeks.
