Estia Aged Care and BaptCare Wyndham Lodge among worst hit by virus

At least six aged care homes in Melbourne’s west, including in Wyndham, Maribyrnong and Brimbank, are still battling active coronavirus cases and bodies are continuing to mount.

At least six aged care homes in Melbourne’s west are still battling active coronavirus cases as the death toll rises further.

Virus-plagued aged care homes across the state have been linked to more than 1000 infections and at least 245 deaths as of Thursday.

BaptCare Wyndham Lodge, Glendale RACF Werribee, Estia Health in Ardeer and Doutta Galla RACF in Footscray all have active cases affecting residents, staff or close contacts.

Bupa Aged Care Sunshine and Arcare in Burnside are also still fighting outbreaks.

Victoria recorded 240 new virus cases on Thursday and 13 deaths.

Of the new deaths, 8 were linked to the state’s aged care homes.

One man in his 70s, six women in their 80s, five women in their 90s and one man in his 90s have died in the past 24 hours.

Estia Aged Care in Ardeer has been hit hardest in the western suburbs, with 158 cases in total linked the facility since the outbreak began, according to Department of Health and Human Services figures.

BaptCare Wyndham Lodge has had 152 cases, while 110 cases have been linked to Cumberland Manor Aged Care Facility in Sunshine.

Victoria had recorded 17,683 cases as of today and a total 376 deaths.

Wyndham has the most number of active cases in Victoria (811), with Brimbank a close second (743), followed by Hume (527).
