Police have identified the Werribee driver who tragically lost his life in a fatal crash in Hoppers Crossing at the weekend but say an investigation into the cause is “ongoing”.

Emergency services were rushed to the Hogans Road scene about 9.15am on Sunday, after reports a car had lost control, slamming into the front of a house.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the occupants of the house weren’t injured in the crash and the victim, a 39-year-old Werribee man sadly died at the scene.

“The exact circumstances of the crash are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing,” she said.

She said the man had been formally identified earlier this week and police had notified his family.

Seven people lost their lives on Victorian roads between Friday and Sunday, taking the road death toll to 200 for the year.

The spokeswoman urged witnesses to come forward and provide a statement to police.
