Melbourne’s west has plenty of fantastic butchers, but we can finally reveal the region’s best — and there are two.

Melbourne’s west has plenty of fantastic butchers providing delicious sausages, steaks, hams, and roasts, but we can finally reveal the region’s best — as voted by you.

And our readers couldn’t separate Pretty’s Prime Cuts Werribee and King Of Kings Butchery in Wyndham Vale.

Pretty’s Prime Cuts Werribee manager Dale said he thought the butcher was voted the best in the west because it supplied the best meat and prided itself on customer service.

“We take pride in what we do; we love what we do and it shows when you buy the meat,” he said.

“We are always trying to be nice to everyone and are always happy to have a chat.”

King Of Kings Butchery owner Jason Grech said the award was a huge thrill, and staff at the business were so passionate about their work.

Mr Grech said they sold a wide range of products.

“We really do everything; we make our own sausages, we do our own spit meat, which is very popular … burgers, rissoles, everything is made on site,” he said.

“We really specialise in doing that old-school, authentic butcher way of doing things.

“I’m trying to bring butchering back to the way it was, it was always better back in the day and I don’t think it needed to change too much.”

Mr Grech said their customers were like family and they were grateful to everybody who voted.

“It’s amazing to have even been placed in the category,” he said.
