After 46 years in the business, the Warrnambool Library will shut its doors, relocating to the South West TAFE on Kepler St.
The Warrnambool Learning and Library Hub is a $20.25m dollar project supported by the Victorian Government, South West TAFE and the Warrnambool City Council.
A council spokesperson said the new library would be open to the public and shared with students who were studying at TAFE.
The development will allow access to all of the Warrnambool community, providing a brighter and larger reading environment with views across the popular Lake Pertobe.
The logistics process will take approximately one week to remove all books off the shelves and transfer them to the new shelves at the new site.
The site will also offer an enhanced book collection and improved library service.
Library members who have borrowed books during this time have been advised to hold onto them as they can be returned when the new library opens on October 10.
Despite being closed for the week, council chief executive Peter Schneider said people wouldn’t be out of content to read, as members were able to borrow up to 30 items.
