Police are on hunt for a wanted thief who stole 24 pairs of sunglasses worth $3000 from a surf shop in Port Fairy.

A police spokesperson said the thief smashed one of the store’s windows, gaining access to The Passage on Bank St and stole designer sunglasses early Saturday morning between 12.30am and 1am.

The owners of the store have shared their thoughts through a sign put up on one of the shop’s windows over the weekend.

“Last night a wonderful human being helped themselves to 24 pairs of Oakley sunglasses,” the sign read.

“We’re gutted and frustrated that someone actually felt that this is ok.

The shop was contacted for comment.
