Off-duty Warrnambool police have collared two people in the aisles of a local hardware shop after spotting a suspicious vehicle while heading home.
The detectives spotted a green Holden Commodore on Raglan Parade which they believed to have been involved in recent dangerous driving, petrol theft, and evasions across Warrnambool.
They followed the car into the hardware shop car park and arrested a man and a woman inside.
When the car was searched, police allegedly found a double-barrel shotgun, drugs, and stolen goods.
A 27-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with 14 offences, including being a prohibited person possessing a firearm and ammunition, theft, possessing drugs of dependence, and numerous traffic offences.
A 26-year-old woman, also of no fixed address, was charged with five offences including being a prohibited person possessing a firearm and ammunition, theft, possessing drugs of dependence, and breaching bail.
Both were remanded to appear at the Bendigo Magistrates Court at a later date.
