Crowds of Oktoberfest fans have taken over the Shipwreck Bay Holiday Park in Warrnambool.
Gates opened at 2pm on Saturday, allowing those who like their weekend sleep-ins to prepare for what was a big adventure ahead.
The popular event was cancelled in October last year due to heavy rain plummeting the state, so the time arrived for guests to experience a day filled with German beer, live music, DJs, the silent disco, Bretzel Biz pretzels and Bratwurst from Bavarian Bangers.
Guests strutted their style wearing their lederhosen outfits, getting into that Oktoberfest spirit.
The Warrnambool News was roaming around Shipwreck Bay to photograph guests having a wonderful time.
Event organiser and manager Jordan Thulborn said it was great to have Oktoberfest back up and running.
“It’s nice to be able to do it in a warmer month of the summer period and it’s a little bit different to the normal time we’ve run it,” Mr Thulborn said.
“It’s just so good after covid and then obviously the wet weather we’ve had as well and being able to be back outdoors and doing it again.”
Mr Thulborn encouraged everyone to support the event industry, especially after the effects of Covid.
“Especially in regional towns it’s important to get as much support behind these events to keep them alive because there’s not too many that have come back, that’s the biggest thing going forward,” he said.
“I think they’re just as happy as I am to actually see something go ahead and be put on and that’s been important.”
