A driver was nabbed allegedly driving at double the limit after smashing into a fence and trees in Warrnambool.

A New South Wales man was nabbed allegedly drink driving after crashing his car in Warrnambool in the early hours of Thursday.

It is alleged the man was driving a Landcruiser along Logans Beach Rd when he veered from the roadway and crashed through a fence and trees at about 4.30am.

The 41-year-old was then nabbed by police, who took him back to the station where he allegedly blew .091 - almost double the legal limit.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the car, was not injured.

He was fined $550 for exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol.

A police spokesperson said officers in Victoria’s southwest were patrolling the roads 24 hours a day and warned drivers of the consequences when driving under the influence of alcohol.
