Mountajup: 24-year-old man killed in Mill Rd crash near the Grampians, Hamilton

A man has been killed after his car suddenly left the road, went down an embankment and crashed in Victoria’s west.

A man in his 20s has died after his car fell down an embankment and crashed near the Grampians National Park and Hamilton in Victoria’s west.

Police believe the man was driving along Mill Rd in Mountajup when it suddenly came off the road about 5.30am on Thursday.

The driver, a 24-year-old Moutajup man, died at the scene.

He was the sole occupant inside the car, and is the 26th person to be killed on Victoria’s roads this year, compared to 19 lives at the same time in 2022.

It was the second fatal crash to occur in regional Victoria within 24 hours, after a 20-year-old Tatong man died when his car hit a tree near Benalla on Wednesday night.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding both crashes, and anyone with information or any witnesses can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
