Tatong crash: One dead after car hits tree on Molyullah-Tatong Rd

A driver from a small town near Benalla has been revealed as the victim of a fatal crash in the Goulburn Valley overnight, the third in the region within seven days.

A man has died after his car crashed into a tree near Benalla in the state’s northeast.

Emergency services responded to the incident in Tatong on Molyullah-Tatong Rd about 8.30pm on Wednesday.

The driver, a 20-year-old Kilfeera man. died at the scene and was the sole occupant inside the car.

It is the third deadly road incident in the Goulburn Valley in the past seven days, after a man and a woman died in separate collisions in Lancaster and Creighton’s Creek on Friday, January 20.

Twenty five people have died on Victoria’s roads this year, up from the 19 lives lost at the same time in 2022.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Tatong incident, and anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
