Man’s severe hand injury in Grampians National Park accident

A rock climber has been rescued after falling at Grampians National Park days after a man lost his hand when a rock fell on him.

Emergency services have rescued a rock climber who fell at Grampians National Park after it is understood a man lost his hand when a rock fell on him on Sunday.

Victorian Police, Ambulance Victoria and VICSES worked through Wednesday night and into the day after a 22-year-old man from Adelaide fell about 5pm on Wednesday.

The man had been climbing with five other people when he fell about 2.5 metres, sustaining upper body and lower back injuries which left him unable to walk.

The man has been taken to hospital for treatment.

It comes after a man is believed to have lost his left hand when a rock fell on him on Sunday.

The man, in his 20s, is in a critical but stable condition after the accident at park’s Beehive Track.

The man was flown to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne on Sunday.

Specialist paramedics were called to the scene after he suffered serious haemorrhaging, but the man was able to free himself.

He was in a serious but stable condition on Wednesday night.

The Beehive Track is described as a “scenic hike” on the northern region of the popular national park.
