Man caught speeding at 154km in a 100km zone, with another passenger and a young child in the vehicle

A man has been caught travelling more than 50km/h over the speed limit near Port Fairy, with a child in his car.

A 34-year-old South Australian man has lost his licence for 12 months after being caught speeding at 154km/hin a 100km/h zone, travelling with another passenger and a young child in the vehicle with him.

The vehicle was detected by Portland Highway Patrol on the Princes Highway Codrington at 3.30pm on Saturday.

The driver was issued an infringement notice of $925 as well as the loss of his licence for a year.

“The weather was terrible at the time and luckily the driver was caught before a tragedy took place,” Eyewatch Southern Grampians Police Service said in a Facebook post.

“Portland Highway Patrol members regularly patrol the main highways and back roads trying to avert this type of reckless behaviour,”
