Police have arrested a Warrnambool man after he allegedly stole 60 slabs of beer from the Warrnambool Racecourse a week before May Races in April.
The 34-year-old man was charged with the theft of 1560 cans of beer from a shipping container, including Great Northerns, Carlton Draught and Carlton Dry.
Warrnambool Racing Club chief executive Tom O‘Connor said while it was not ideal, the beers were restocked for the carnival.
“It’s only a small portion (of beers) to what we put out during the carnival,” he said
Mr O’Connor said CCTV would be installed where the beers were stolen.
The man will appear at Warrnambool Magistrates’ Court on September 5.
Police investigations are continuing.
