House sets on fire on Le Couteurs Rd in Curdievale, woman escapes unharmed

A Curdievale woman has had a lucky escape after her house went up in flames.

A woman is lucky to be alive after her home in Victoria’s southwest burnt down overnight.

The CFA were called to a house fire on Le Couteurs Rd in Curdievale, opposite Bilyana Lane in Brucknell just before 7.30pm on Wednesday, where firefighters found the home engulfed in flames.

A CFA spokesperson said about 12 CFA vehicles were at the scene for several hours after the incident occurred.

An elderly woman living in the home escaped the fire uninjured.

It’s understood a nearby resident approached the home and helped the victim, comforting her until the CFA arrived.

Ambulance Victoria arrived at the scene just before 8pm but no emergency treatment or transport was required.

The fire was brought under control just after 8.30pm and declared safe at 9.30pm.

Fireys left the scene about 11pm before they returned when it reignited about 1am.

The cause is unknown and the investigation is going.
