Despite the struggles of another stop-start season, the Hampden league has again produced top tier footy in 2021.
Perennial big-guns Koroit and North Warrnambool have been the frontrunners as the league welcomed an influx of former AFL and VFL talent, complemented by the rise of several youngsters making their mark at senior level.
We have a look at 30 of the players who have been among their team’s standouts this year.
Shannon Beks (South Warrnambool)
A little bit subdued in 2021, the forward’s best return was a bag of six against Port Fairy. On his day he is a matchwinner.
Mitchell Bidmade (Warrnambool)
Bidmade has been consistent throughout the season earning selection in the best in all but one of the Blues’ games.
Jett Bermingham (North Warrnambool)
One of the stars of the competition, Bermingham has almost been unstoppable in some of his performances this season.
Levi Dare (Hamilton Kangaroos)
The three-time Maskell Medallist was among Hamilton’s best in four out of his seven games in 2021, before the ruckman parted ways with the club to join Alvie in the Colac league.

Ben Malcolm (Portland)
The former Hampden interleague ruckman has been a dominating force in 2021, named Portland’s best in four outings.
Mark Marriott (Cobden)
The Bombers big man has been a revelation since arriving at the club, impressing with his work aerially and on the ground.
Fraser Marris (South Warrnambool)
He’s only played two games for the Roosters this year (including a best-on-ground performance) but that’s only because of his commitments to the Greater Western Rebels and even a game for Sydney’s VFL side in 2021. A midfield jet.
Tim McIntyre (Koroit)
The two-time premiership player returned to the Saints from Barwon Heads and hasn’t missed a beat. Booted 23 goals in 2021.
