A fashionable crowd flocked to Camperdown on Saturday to enjoy a day at the races.
Camperdown held one of the first Victorian cups of the year at the weekend, with punters and racegoers enjoying engaging entertainment, cold beverages, food vans and a social time with their family and friends.
The spring racing season may be over, but the Camperdown Cup attracted large groups keen to enjoy the summer racing period.
Gates opened at 11am, with crowds of people gathering in their racewear outfits and filled the venue.
The weather reached a maximum of 26C and was mostly sunny for the day.
Inverleigh local Bella Hovey, 22, said she “sunk a few tins and the race has been pretty good”.
“It’s changed a lot and it’s good that we can all get out again and socialise and watch the horses run,” she said.
Racegoer and chopper pilot Dale Marquand, 23, enjoyed his time socialising at the busy event.
“It’s been quite nice, there’s good weather and good beer,” Mr Marquand said.
“This is the first horse race I have ever been to — it’s been an awesome experience. The people are great, the horses are great and it’s been good weather, there’s nothing more I could ask for,” Canadian man Hayden Dick said.
“It’s a great community and everyone has been really welcoming, everyone has taught me what I want to know and what I want to learn, it’s just been awesome all around,” he said.
“I’m rooting for Australia.”
