Belmont man dies in Port Fairy drowning
A Belmont man has drowned following a tragic diving incident in the state’s southwest.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner after a Belmont man was pulled from the water in the state’s southwest.
It is understood the 59-year-old failed to surface while diving at South Beach about 4pm on Sunday afternoon.
A rescue helicopter was called who located the man in the same location he was last seen.
“Police will prepare a report for the coroner after a deceased person was located in water off Port Fairy on Sunday 3 October about 4pm,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
“The cause of his death is yet to be determined.
“At this stage, the death isn’t believed to be suspicious.”
