Police searching the Yarra River at Warrandyte have discovered a man’s body this morning.

It is believed to be that of the 39-year-old man who went missing on Saturday.

Concerned friends raised the alarm for the missing 39-year-old man who wandered away from his group on Saturday and had not been seen since.

The friends had been spending time together at the popular Taroona Reserve, which provides access to the Warrandyte township river walk.

The man was seen walking by himself down a path towards the Yarra River about 3pm.

Parks Victoria has warned that the river was deep in that location, had strong currents and submerged obstacles.

Police air wing and search and rescue divers had joined the search for the man on Saturday and Sunday.

“His friends noticed he was missing and tried to locate him before contacting police to report him missing,” a spokeswoman said.

“Sadly the body of a man has been found as part of our search of the Yarra River in Warrandyte. Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.”
