Truck driver, 60, charged with 46 offences over Pentland Hills crash

A truck driver will face court on Monday afternoon to face more than 45 charges over a horror bus crash.

School bus involved in crash west of Melbourne

A truck driver is facing more than 45 charges over a collision with a school bus last September.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives on Monday charged the truckie over the crash which occurred on the Western Freeway at Pentland Hills, near Bacchus Marsh, about 3.15am on September 21.

The collision - near the intersection of Condons Lane - allegedly caused the bus to roll down an embankment.

The bus, containing 27 school girls from Loreto College Ballarat, four adults and a bus driver, was travelling towards Melbourne airport at the time.

All were taken to various hospitals, with one teenage girl airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The 60-year-old Croydon man who was allegedly driving the truck has since been charged with 46 offences.

These include reckless conduct causing serious injury, dangerous driving causing serious injury and reckless conduct endangering life.

He will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon.
