It was an extraordinary innings.

“It was my day,’’ Cheltenham Park opening batsman Zac Rattray said.

The 20-year-old on Saturday blitzed six sixes in one over and 23 sixes all up as he stacked up a chanceless 208 in the South East Cricket Association.

The right-hander faced only 65 balls and was dismissed in the 24th over of the innings.

It was his maiden ton, and he quickly turned it into a double.

His first century came off 35 deliveries and his second off 27, hauling his team to 6-424 off 38 overs against Melbourne Dazzlers in a D grade fixture at Cheltenham Park.

The apprentice electrician said he suspected he was in for a big score when he pulled the first ball of his innings through backward square for four.

“I thought to myself, ‘Is this the day, hopefully today’s the day?’ It was. It was my day. Just a day out really. Sort of, see ball, hit ball, and it all paid off,’’ he said.

“It felt pretty good. Just happiness, because I’d never made a ton. Before yesterday my highest score was 88.’’

He raised his double century by hitting every ball in one over for six.

“It was the perfect over,’’ Rattray said. “Good feeling, that one, another thing to tick off the box.’’

Cheltenham Park captain Patrick Reaby said the innings was “the best knock I’ve ever seen, that’s for sure’’.

He said the ball twice became stuck in trees as Rattray bombed the boundary.

“He took 18 runs off the first over and he was away,’’ Reaby said.

“He got caught once – but the fielder was over the boundary.

“We’ve got soccer lights up, and he smashed the light pole I reckon a good 30m up!’’

Rattray joined Cheltenham Park from Melbourne Hellenic last season.

The club’s First XI plays in D Grade but Rattray said the team was talented and was determined to win promotion to higher grades.

It started this season by bowling out its opponent for 40 and getting the runs inside three overs, with Rattray slapping 41 not out off 12 balls, with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

On Saturday it demolished the Dazzlers for 133.
