And that’s another milestone for Caulfield champion Jacob Thorne.

The 35-year-old peeled off his 10th century for the Fielders on Saturday, a chanceless, unbeaten 103 off 136 balls against Bayswater, to move to within one of the great Bryan Harper, who has the most First XI tons for Caulfield — 11.

Of all of Thorne’s tons, this one was a display of total dominance; he went in second ball of the innings at Caulfield Park and hit the final ball of the innings for four to bring up his century and steer Caulfield to 3-257 off 45 overs.

“He just looked a class above to be honest,” Caulfield playing-coach Lachlan Graf said.

“His application is always amazing. It was chanceless and he just controlled everything from ball one.”

Thorne shared a 180-run third wicket partnership with young Englishman Josh Rymell, who also raised his bat for a brilliant century.

The 22-year-old, who has opened the batting for Essex with England legend Sir Alastair Cook, blasted 104 off 84 balls, with 7 sixes and 4 fours.

Graf said Rymell “exploded” after bringing up his half-century.

“I think he went from 63 to 104 in 12 balls or something like that,” Graf said.

“He scored 40 odd off 12 balls which was pretty nice striking at the back end.”

Graf said Rymell hit the ball to all parts — “straight, over mid wicket’’

“He got caught at deep extra cover, playing a back foot drive and he hit it about 80 metres and got caught on the boundary,’’ he said.

“He’s striking them beautifully at the moment.”

Graf himself made 26 off 43 balls at the top of the list and was dismissed in the 14th over, when Rymell joined Thorne.

Caulfield capped off a dominant day by dismissing Bayswater for 131 in 33.1 overs.

Graf took 1-13, Ollie Hayes 2-19, Zac Fraser 2-25 and man-of-the-man Thorne 3-25 off eight overs, while Caulfield was dynamic in the field with a run out and two sharp catches.

Jordan Ludgater top scored for Bayswater with 31 off 33 balls while Cameron Livingstone hit 24 off 37 before being run out.

Caulfield, with seven wins, has cemented a top-three spot and Graf said Rymell — who has scored 320 runs, at 45.7 — would be available for the remaining five games and finals.

“He’s around for good now, he’s got a missus in Melbourne, he got delisted by Essex about three weeks before he came over so he’s staying over here…we’ll hold onto him for as long as we can to be honest,’’ he said.

“We’re not huge fans of getting blokes across who you are going to lose before finals but I think we’ve absolutely won on this occasion.’’
