A former Frankston Dolphins VFL player is the latest to jump aboard the Pirate push, with Will Crowder back in blue and tan after committing to Old Peninsula for 2025.

“With his exceptional skills and great personality, he’ll be a fantastic addition,’’ the club said in a statement.

Old Peninsula — a proud club nearing 50 years in operation — is going all out to win an elusive first senior premiership in the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

In September it appointed Hastings premiership coach Brendan Dunne as senior coach.

Last week the Pirates got their recruiting campaign off to a flyer, securing former Frankston VFL midfielder Max Kleverkamp and key position Jordan Pomeroy, who’s returning to the Pirates after four years at Karingal in the MPFNL.

Old Peninsula has also re-signed best and fairest winner Hugh Peacock and leading players Bailey Payze, George Fletcher, Killian Doyle, Nelson Forrest and Kurt Thiele.

Dunne, a former Pirates player, is determined to help the club flourish.

“Obviously my goal is to try and get them back up to B grade,’’ Dunne said.

“They’ve never won a senior flag. I’ll jump on and see what happens.’’

Old Peninsula narrowly missed finals this year in VAFA Division 1, finishing fifth with a 10-8 record. Payze kicked 47 goals — second most in the comp. Jake Lovett, Kurt Thiele and Finn Bardolph also had strong seasons.

Old Peninsula president Alex Wood said the club had a “clear 2030 plan’’, with two key goals being to have six teams and to win three premierships.

“Our playing group is committed and hungry for success,” Wood said.

“The committee is aligned and stable with a clear 2030 plan.

“Financially, we are in an excellent position.’’
