It’s all about working hard and earning respect.
So says Edithvale-Aspendale’s boom recruit, former Adelaide Crow Jordan Gallucci.
The 26-year-old has been unveiled as the Eagles’ star signing, just a month after they won the Division 2 premiership in the Mornington Peninsula league.
Gallucci has just completed the season at South Fremantle and will relocate to Melbourne in late November, eager to join Edi-Asp’s push into Division 1.
“I’ve only heard good things,’’ Gallucci said of the Eagles.
“I’ve spoken to Kris (Pendlebury) a fair bit and Gaz (Edi-Asp footy manager Gary Rees) as well. I’ve had a few text messages from a few boys as well. Tyrone (Vickery) has got a hold of me as well which has been nice.’’
Gallucci was drafted by Adelaide with its first selection and 15th overall in the 2016 national draft.
He played 27 AFL matches, kicking 19 goals.
Gallucci has played at all levels, including SANFL, WAFL and VFL and says he’s ready to play local footy.
“I’ve put the state league stuff behind me now and look to play some good footy locally,’’ he said.
He says he intends to “just be myself’’ at Edi-Asp.
“I know my footy speaks for itself,’’ he said.
“So that will be fine. Just work as hard as I can and earn respect like that.
I’m sure it’s going to be great.’’
He said Edi-Asp supporters can expect “a bit of everything’’.
“I’ve played everywhere,’’ he said.
“Not quite in the ruck, I’m not quite tall enough for that. I play inside, I play outside, I play forward, I play back, I don’t really mind. I’ve kicked a few goals in my time so I don’t mind sneaking forward.
“In terms of on the field, a heap of leadership stuff. I want to get into coaching eventually so making the people around me better is a big one but also trying to get to a place where my footy is super important. And if I’m going alright I think the team will generally go pretty well too.
“I look out for my mates, make sure the relationships on ground are the biggest things for me, helping others but also bringing a bit of flare.’’
Edithvale-Aspendale won 19 games in a row to claim the premiership this year under first-year coach Pendlebury.
The Eagles won a famous grand final last month when they played two short for the last 20 minutes but found a way to come from behind and win.
