Revealed: The rising stars of the EDFL women’s competition

The Essendon District Football League women’s competition remains one of the strongest in the state due to the growth of young guns. We profile the rising stars of 2025.

The future is now in the Essendon District Football League.

This season has seen a number of emerging stars make their mark on the women’s competition.

Now we’ve profiled some of the best in 2025.

Mia Bondar, Taylors Lakes

Has taken her game to another level this season as one of the Lions most important players.

Eva Downie, Moonee Valley

Made the move from Tasmania before this season and has been superb for the Fog. Has played three games in Essendon’s VFL side.

Charlie Goodwin, Taylors Lakes

One of the leading goalkickers in Division 2. Goodwin has taken her game to another level.

Chloe Healy, Maribyrnong Park

Playing some superb footy for the Lions this season despite still being eligible for under-18 footy.

Charlotte Jackson, Tullamarine

A new face at the club this season after crossing from Westmeadows. Jackson has been consistently among the best.

Emma Kassis-Baker, Westmeadows

Joined the club at the start of the season after playing under-16s with Greenvale last year. She’s been a consistent performer.

Montana Kerr, Maribyrnong Park

Been superb for the Lions when she’s been available this season, named in the best in all seven of her games. Kerr also played four games for the Calder Cannons.

Briana Marino, Aberfeldie

She’s found a regular place in the senior side this year and has brought the same goalkicking exploits from the lower levels.

Tegan Matthews, Keilor

Returned to the club at the start of the season after a stint with Maribyrnong Park and has been on fire. Kicked eight in one game and has 22 for the season.

Talia Motta, Strathmore

Has been a brilliant recruit for the Mores this season and has kicked 23 goals in eight games. Made her VFLW debut for Williamstown.

Milla Murphy, Strathmore

The former Calder Cannon has enjoyed a fine season averaging more than a goal a game and seven mentions in the best.

Sasha Nelson, Oak Park

Joined the club via the Western Jets and Williamstown CYMS at the start of the year. She’s been one of the recruits of the year.

Summer Pazsa, Sunbury Kangaroos

Joined the club at the start of the season and has proven to be a brilliant pick up with her consistency.

Adalita Pizzinga, Essendon Doutta Stars

In her first full season at the senior level, Pizzinga has established herself as one of the leading forwards in the competition. She’s booted 24 goals in 12 senior games this season.

Darcie Robinson, Maribyrnong Park

Robinson has now played three seasons of senior footy after playing in the under-16s. With eight mentions in the best this season, it’s easily been her best yet.

Caitlin Sargent, Hillside

As she has done in previous seasons, the former Vic Metro representative has continued to kick goals for the Sharks. She has 15 in six this season.

Mia Spiteri, Hillside

The former Western Jet has once again been a strong performer for her side as one of the most consistent players.

Melda Temurci, Keilor

Out of the under-18s program and enjoying a stellar senior campaign. Temurci has been one of the Blues most consistent players.

Alexia Todorovic, Gisborne-Kyneton

The youngster has been consistently brilliant inside forward 50 and is the competition’s leading goalkicker.

Amelia Wright, Aberfeldie

The former Calder Cannon has been brilliant this season in her first full season of senior footy. One of the most consistent players in the league.
