Promising swimmers from across Victoria will descend on MSAC for the Victorian Sprint Championships this weekend.
Ahead of the meet, we’ve broken down some exciting swimmers with the help of clubs.
Sophia Beaton, Ballarat Gold
Finally getting a consistent block of work after 18 months of injury interruptions and what better stage than to showcase her undoubted potential.
Zoe Cleminson, Melbourne
In 2024, she was named the Swimmer of the Meet at the 2024 Vic Metro Championships.
Hana Dai, Melbourne
A young star who could take the meet by storm if she finds her very best.
Emma Grave, Cardinia Piranhas
Grave, 15 years, is ranked highly for the 50m freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke and is a three-time national swimmer. Her favourite events are the freestyle and breaststroke and she is hoping to make her mark in the fly as well. Grave is also an accomplished Irish dancer, having competed internationally and all over Australia. In 2024, she competed at the USA National Championships and was ranked 25th.
Raymond Grave, Cardinia Piranhas
A consistent swimmer in the 12 years category and finished sixth in the backstroke final last year. His favourite events also include the freestyle. Outside of swimming he is a keen mountain biker.
Sarah Howe, Ballarat Gold
Howe is someone who has shone across all distances and this is a great opportunity for her to reinforce her potential and skills across the shorter distances and strokes also.
Ollie Kallio, Ballarat Gold
A swimmer on the rise across all strokes and distances. It will be a great opportunity for Kallio to see how he can push the speed dial up while still maintaining his beautiful shape and flow in all strokes at sprints.
Georgie Kennett, Ballarat Gold
A pocket rocket 10-year-old who has massive potential and this will be a great opportunity for her to showcase her skills on a big stage.
James Logan, Melbourne
The 18-year-old from Geelong will compete four disciplines throughout the weekend. He’s been an award winner consistently.
Claire Mathison, Ballarat Gold
Has been in great form and her confidence is growing which means some special swims aren’t too far away.
Harry McCraw, Melbourne
Swimming across several events. He broke the 13-year-old 100m SC record last year. Was Swimmer of the Meet at the 2024 Vic Metropolitan Championships.
Ollie McCormack, Ballarat Gold
Is on the rise across all strokes and has speed to burn which is going to be exciting to see him showcase his talents.
Archie Smyth, South Gippsland Bass
Broke a Victorian Country record in the boys 11-and-under 50m backstroke last year but has stepped up to the 12s for this meet.
Miller Stott, Ballarat Gold
Has had an interrupted last month but is back to full health and is raring to go which will be exciting to watch.
Patrick Whitwood, Cardinia Piranhas
Competing in the 13 years, Whitwood is an emerging swimmer who has quickly risen through the ranks in his age group and is a contender in the breaststroke. His events are also include freestyle while he is an accomplished long distance swimmer. Away from swimming he plays basketball.
