Frankston Peninsula’s list has had a dynamic boost.
Sorrento all-rounder Luke Kranzbuhler has returned to the Heat, keen to kickstart his Premier Cricket career.
The 21-year-old has previously played for Dandenong and Frankston Peninsula, and he’s also a former Victorian under 17 and 19 player.
He played at Sorrento last season, making 372 runs at 24.8 and taking 19 wickets at 23.2.
New Frankston Peninsula coach Peter Marshall coached Kranzbuhler at Malvern in the under-15 Craig Shield six years ago and said he was precisely the type of player the Heat were looking to take the club into the future.
“He’s going to come back and have a crack back at Premier Cricket,’’ Marshall said.
“He was pretty young when he was there last, coming across from Dandenong to Frankston Peninsula and he’s coming back as an all rounder.
“At 21 I think he’s matured and we’re pretty keen to give him an opportunity.
“He reached out to me. And they’re the sort of young blokes I want, who are fit and want to have a crack and they’re keen to work hard. That’s the sort of people I’m looking for.
That’s a nice get.”
Frankston Peninsula has also regained batters Nick Taranto, who missed last season with a shoulder injury, Ryan Hammel, back from a broken wrist, and big-hitting opener Vishesh Bansal.
Marshall said the Heat were in discussions with a couple of other potential recruits.
“We’re still looking for a couple of mature recruits,” he said.
Frankston Peninsula will hold an information night at Jubilee Park centre on July 3 and Marshall encourages any cricketer thinking about having a go at Premier Cricket to attend.
“I’m pretty keen to see if there are a couple of senior players who might be interested in dipping their toe into the water at Peemier level. They’re welcome to show their face.”
Heat pre-season training starts in July 18.
Marshall hopes to add more recruits as the Heat begins a new, exciting era.
“Our books are still open, encouraging any up and comers, probably 18 and above, to come down and dip their toe in the water at Premier level,’’ he said.
“Our facilities are going to be first class.”
