There’s been a steady flow of player signings in the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association as clubs look to strengthen their lists for the 2023-24 season.

HILLMEN ADD QUALITY

Red Hill has secured Richmond premiership batsman Chris Weeks.

The 36-year-old was as a top-order bat at the Victorian Premier club for more than a decade, playing in the Tigers 2011-12 first XI premiership.

He has spent the past seven seasons at Victorian Sub District club Kew, captain-coaching it to a premiership and its first club championship in 100 years.

Weeks scored 3288 runs, at 38, with six centuries, at Kew.

He bolsters a Red Hill top order thick with Premier experience, including Simon Dart, Luke Robertson and Chris Dew.

Weeks will be on Red Hill’s coaching panel as well as playing next season.

MAGPIES REGAIN STAR

Blake Hogan-Keogh has returned to Crib Point — as captain-coach — after eight years at Flinders.

His stint at Flinders included a premiership, 3050 runs, at 31, and 82 wickets, at 25.

“He has decided to go back to where his cricketing journey began as a junior,’’ Crib Point said in a statement.

“We are beyond excited to see what Blake can do with our talented and passionate group of players.’’

BROTHERS BOLSTER BAXTER

A boost for Baxter, signing the talented Dinger brothers, Cam, Josh and Luke, from Narre Warren in the DDCA.

Cam Dinger, a leg-spinner, took 6-43 off 16 overs to bowl Cranbourne to victory in the 2015-16 DDCA Turf 1 grand final, his brilliant exhibition of spin bowling earning him the Damien Fleming Medal as man-of-the-match.

He also played first XI at Casey South Melbourne.

Josh Dinger is an opening bowler and Luke an opening batsman and keeper.

Baxter has also snared Narre Warren all-rounder Daniel Alarcon.

BOOST FOR EAGLES

Somerville has unveiled two Ferntree Gully association recruits.

Jacob Evans, a left-arm orthodox spinner and hard-hitting middle order bat, and opening batsman Jake Pollard have joined the Eagles from the Eildon Park club.

YOUN GUN JOINS SHARKS

Hot on the heels of appointing Seb Gotch as playing-coach, Sorrento has signed Seaford Tigers all-rounder Luke Kranzbuhler.

He is a former Victorian under 17 and 19 player, who also had stints at Dandenong and Frankston Peninsula.

“He will form an important part of our club’s 1st XI line-up,” Sorrento said.

Jake Prosser will be back in sky blue next season.

JAKE RETURNS HOME

Langwarrin has regained premiership all-rounder Jake Prosser after a three-season stint at Cardinia.

He will captain Langy, taking the reins from champion Chris Brittain, who will remain as a player.

WOLTERS STEPS UP

Flinders all-rounder Liam Wolters has been appointed captain-coach of the relegated Sharks.

“Liam brings great energy and enthusiasm to the group and we look forward to seeing where this takes us over the next few seasons,” the club said in a statement.

Flinders is also calling for new players or any former players who are “keen to jump on board and join the ride”.

NEW BRAVES LEADER

There’s been a change of captain at Baden Powell, with Rhys Elmi replacing Travis Kellerman.

Elmi recently won his eighth Braves club champion award.

COUGAR DEPARTURE

Carrum Downs batsman Nathan Harford has signed at Oakleigh in the Victorian Sub District Association. He takes on the role of senior assistant coach at the Oaks.
